I have an HTC One M8 for Windows and it is atrocious. Not the OS, the phone itself. I’ve been Windows Phone loyal since 7.5. I think it’s great. Live Tiles are the bestevs and whatnot. But the apps SUCK.

So I’ve been thinking about moving to iPhone because I can’t do Android and get work shit on my phone. I need work shit, so it’s either iOS or Windows. I’m torn between the swanky new Lumia 950 and the neat, incremental-update iPhone 6s. Help me choose Oppo, you’re my only hope!

I only voted for the iphone because I have one, the phone does what it needs to do, I can browse the internet when I am waiting around somewhere, and the apple store has most of the apps I want and usually gets them first. I like it, but I have little experience with other phones, your mileage may vary and all that

I’m down for the 3d touch thing and the fingerprint unlock was cool

It was cool until the Lumia debuted with FRICKIN’ IRIS SCANNER

Gof so torn

On my 3rd iPhone (4S, 5S, 6S) and I love them. Say what you want about Apple/Apple owners, but they just work.

Can’t Android due to HIPAA requirements. IT refuses to allow Androids because they’re too easy to get into, too risky for data theft

I’ve had a 3G, a 4 and a 4S. I’ve never had a problem with Apple things, I have just preferred Microsoft’s OS over Apples because it does neat things

And Cortana is so much cooler than Siri

But Siri is faster and iOS has many neat things that Windows doesnt...

Well shit. I’d say Lumina just because apple seems to screw its users down the line as soon as the next model comes out by updating the OS to the point prior phones run like garbage on it.

Sadly they haven’t announced a W10 upgrade path, but I'd totally plug my Nokia Icon.. This phone rocks. I love the hardware SO much, and you already know the up and downsides of WP (in my personal opinion the pluses far outweigh the negatives)

That’s kinda how I’m feeling

However my M8 can’t into Windows 10 even though it is a Snapdragon 801-powered, 2GB RAM “flagship” device. Microsoft has screwed its customers with the Win10 push just as bad as Apple

3D Touch gets a lot of hate from people who don’t feel like it’s useful enough, but I’ve gotten so used to it that it would be weird not to have it.

As for as the fingerprint unlock goes, as someone whose work enforces an immediate passcode lock to use Exchange, I could never cope without it. I've actually removed my Rxchange account from other devices because I just can't deal with having to type pass codes in all the time.

Icon too old and not available with AT&T. I love my WinPho though and the 950 is a really hard device to pass up, what with liquid cooling, Continuum, Windows Hello and Hey Cortana

I’ve been waiting for the HP Elite X3 to replace my 1520. It has some of the best specs out of any production phone out now and be the ultimate work phone. The 950 is kind of supposed to be, well meh. Not amazing but not bad either. I considered getting one but kind of glad I didn’t, my 1520 has been the perfect phone. But it’s showing its age now, so now I’m torn whether I splurge and pay for the unlocked HP or wait for a new phone.

I won’t say much with the iPhone, never been a fan. I just prefer Windows and Android. With Windows 10 (Which you get immediately with the 950) there are supposed to be more apps coming and already out since the phone and PC version can work together. You also have Continuum on the 950 if you’re concerned about work, which is having the ability to use your phone as a full fledged computer.

I would go with the 950 just because I’m not an iPhone guy. But I would try both and see how you feel. You might really like Windows 10. The HTC One won’t be getting it for some reason.

I love Win10. I have it (dev preview) on my One M8 and gof it’s wonderful. Unfortunately I’m stuck with a partially broken, never-to-be-updated-again build and I would certainly enjoy having a release version

I have a windows phone and it has two major issues. The aforementioned app situation but also the browser is terrible. Cant handle many websites, barely lets me use kinja. Shame because the rest of the phone and software is great. Wish I could get chrome or something on it.

I’ve been really tempted to update to the dev build. I did that with previous builds but decided against it because my current phone is the only one I have, and if that bricks I’m in trouble. Since AT&T won’t hurry up and approve Windows 10 I might just do it. I heard some large improvements have been made.

I was actually considering picking up the One because 180 bucks unlocked is a great deal, but then read about it not getting Windows 10 and backed away. The phone should be able to handle it no problem, so it’s strange they did that. I guess I’ll just deal with malfunctioning wifi for a little while longer. If you get the 950 let us know how you like it. It sounds like a really promising phone. Maybe initial reviews were just expecting far to much.

I’ve never used a windows phone, but I switched from android to an iPhone 6s back in January, and I am not impressed.

I'm a fan of iPhones myself. Everything is intuitive. Plus Siri works pretty well, now if only there was an upgraded functionality.

I just got back from test-driving an iPhone 6s and Lumia 950 side by side. I am in agreement. Alone, the iPhone is a nice device, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the Lumia.

I recently did that switch, and I’m happier with the iPotato (6S) than I was with the Android, every day of the week.

If you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters for you. There are a couple things that the iPhone definitely does better, but most things I find are either more difficult or not even possible. I know lots of people love it, but even though the phone itself is fine, I absolutely hate the operating system. I’ll never buy another iPhone, that’s for sure.

The iPhone doesn’t hold a candle to the Lumia, so true.

Apple products just don’t make any sense. I had to research on the Internet to do basic functions such as “Save As” for the Mac, and how to clear browsing data on the iPhone. Neither a PC nor Android/Windows Phone had to let me search the Internet for basic functions.

Kind of hate to say it, but the iPhone is probably a better bet if Android is out.

And I did see your note about HIPAA requirements. I myself am subject to the same HIPAA constraints to a certain degree for work, but my organization still allows personal Androids to access stuff remotely, assuming it’s encrypted and has a pin lock on it and I allow them to wipe the device if lost. I use TouchDown though for email so I don’t have to encrypt the whole device and allow them to wipe the whole thing, and the Citrix Receiver for all other work related stuff I need to do from my phone. I don’t know if we have different requirements for Epic Haiku or Canto though as I don’t use those. I’m pretty sure though that we Docs running around with Androids using those.

Or is the requirement really that your device be managed by your employers MDM and that you’re on your work network, and the justification for not allowing Android there is HIPAA?
